Reconnecting with Writing to Self Discover and Spiritually Grow.
Writing has always held a special place in my heart. From a young age, it served as my escape, a haven during moments of boredom or long waits at my sister's endless gymnastics competitions. It was my companion on long drives, a source of comfort and creativity as I read and wrote stories. I even kept a diary until the sanctity of my private thoughts was violated when it was read without my permission.
This breach of trust caused a significant shift in my relationship with writing. For years, it became a distant friend, seldom visited and rarely nurtured. However, my relationship with writing began to rekindle during a particularly stressful period in my professional life. I turned to journaling initially as a productivity tool, making lists of to-dos and setting goals. Yet, it quickly evolved into much more than that. Journaling became a way to brain dump, de-stress, and eventually, a medium to express my gratitude, bringing me peace and clarity.
Today, writing is a regular and cherished part of my life once again. It has become a versatile tool for offloading emotions, asking myself profound questions, reviewing my experiences, self reflecting, strategising, calming myself, and keeping track of my dreams and deepest feelings. I use it to manifest and dream about my future, and I even attempt to channel through my writing. It has become a daily ritual, especially significant during new and full moons, providing structure and spiritual nourishment.
Journaling and maintaining a gratitude practice have been transformative for me. Journaling allows for self-reflection, emotional release, and strategic planning, while a gratitude practice has lifted my vibration and brought profound positive changes to my life. Expressing gratitude regularly has been life changing, fostering a sense of appreciation and mindfulness that permeates every aspect of my existence.
A pivotal moment in this journey was during an emotionally challenging pregnancy, when my fiancé at the time bought me a journal to document the experience. This period included fetal surgery and weekly scans where I frequently saw magical rainbows, a symbol of hope and support. The COVID-19 pandemic hit just before my twins were born, and rainbows became a symbol of solidarity with the NHS. Friends gifted us crocheted rainbows for the nursery, a clear sign that my team on the other side was with me throughout this challenging time.
An important aspect of this journey is my children and the gratitude they brought into my life through their dramatic entrance to the world. I have a desire to keep my children open to these experiences and introduce them to the magic of the universe before their frontal lobes become fully engaged with the demands of learning and societal expectations. I want their connection to the other side and their own souls to develop and remain strong from a young age.
Another one of my goals is to deepen my relationship with writing further, particularly in mastering the art of channeling. Channeling, in this context, refers to connecting with my higher self and spirit guides, allowing their wisdom to flow through me onto the paper. My journey into this realm began with my Level One Tarot course early last year. Slowly but surely, I have started building communication with my ‘team of light’ via signs, opening my heart and mind to infinite possibilities.
A significant influence in this journey has been Clare Losty, a psychic medium and tarot reader. Clare has provided me with invaluable insights about the spirits guiding me and was also an absolute joy to style for a lens session that took place with my good friend Nat shooting new personal branding images for her business. Another pivotal moment was when I went to see Katherine, another talented tarot reader. She confirmed my deep love for writing and revealed that I have engaged in this practice over many lifetimes, perfecting the art each time. According to Katherine, I am a seasoned expert in writing, which has reinforced my commitment to this journey. Additionally, Laura Lynne Jackson, a well-known psychic medium whose book ‘Signs’ I have read, empowers people to develop their own relationships with the other side. Her work has been particularly impactful to me, as I strive to maintain and deepen my connection to the spiritual world.
For those unfamiliar with tarot, it is a tool used for divination, offering insights and guidance through a deck of cards, each with its unique symbolism. The Major Arcana, consisting of 22 cards, represents significant life events and spiritual lessons. My journey with tarot has included giving simple readings to close friends and even to the staff of a restaurant. Although I still rely on teaching materials and feel a bit rusty with card interpretations, I believe that mastering channeling through writing can bolster my confidence. I wonder if perhaps my blocked throat chakra, often pointed out to me, will find its release through this practice.
In the realm of psychic abilities, there are several types of ‘clairs’ that describe different ways of receiving intuitive information. These include clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), clairsentience (clear feeling), claircognizance (clear knowing), clairalience (clear smelling), and clairgustance (clear tasting). When it comes to writing, claircognizance is particularly significant, as it involves receiving knowledge and insights directly, which can then be translated into written form. This intuitive flow of information often feels like a deep inner knowing or a sudden clarity about what to write, enhancing the channeling process.
My relationship with writing has evolved from a childhood escape to a powerful tool for self-discovery, stress relief, and spiritual growth. As I continue to deepen this connection, I am excited about the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. Writing is not just a skill or a hobby, it is a path to understanding myself, connecting with the spiritual realm, and creating a more meaningful and fulfilled life.
Through writing, I find peace, clarity, and a profound connection to my higher self and the universe. It is my hope that by sharing my journey, others may be inspired to explore their own relationships with writing, spirituality, and gratitude, unlocking the transformative power these practices can offer.
